When you start or join a trip the app sends our server: a random identifier created on your device (not linked to your Apple ID or any account), the display name, avatar and colour you chose, your precise location while the trip is active, the trip destination (host only) and any pings you send.
Only the members of that trip, who have the trip code or link. The host can remove a member or end the trip.
Caravan asks for location "While Using the App" and can keep sharing in the background during a trip so the map stays current while you drive; iOS shows its blue location indicator while it does. Location is requested only when you start or join a trip, and updates stop the moment the trip ends.
Your display name, avatar and colour and the random identifier are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes them.
None. No analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising or attribution SDK, no data sold or shared with third parties.
Caravan is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them. Trips are private groups of people who know each other.
If a future version changes how data is handled, this page and its date will be updated and the App Store privacy details will match.
