Berlin Transit Map โ€” Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Short version. No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. To show vehicles and stops, the app sends map coordinates to public timetable servers. We do not run a server that receives your data.

Location and map area

If you allow location access ("While Using the App"), the app centres the map on you and finds nearby stops. To do that it sends your approximate position, or the area of the map you are looking at, to the timetable service as part of the request for nearby stops and vehicles. The app does not keep a location history and does not send your location to us.

Timetable services

Departures, vehicle positions, stops and journeys come from VBB and BVG data through transport.rest, a free community service, with BVG's own timetable server as a fallback (and Deutsche Bahn data via transport.rest for other cities). These services receive the request, including your IP address, under their own policies. We do not receive or store it.

Data stored on your device

Favourite stops, trips you save, commute alerts and settings are stored on your device and shared with the widget through an App Group. Deleting the app removes them.

Data we collect

None. There is no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK and no advertising or attribution SDK.

Purchases

Optional tips are processed by Apple; they unlock nothing. We never see your payment details.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future version changes how data is handled, this page and its date will be updated and any data-collecting feature will be opt-in and disclosed in the App Store privacy details.
