Caravan: Drive Together
Support · Privacy policy
What it is. Friends and family in separate cars see each other on one map, with an estimated arrival time for everyone, one-tap pings and a glanceable list on CarPlay. No accounts. Only people with your trip code or link can join.
How it works
- Start a Caravan and share the link or the 6-character code. Anyone with it can join, up to 12 cars.
- The host sets the destination, can remove a member (press and hold the member in the list), and can end the trip for everyone.
- Location is shared only during an active trip. It stops when you leave, when the host ends the trip, or if the connection fails. While you share in the background, iOS shows its blue location indicator.
- Estimated arrival times use straight-line distance and your current speed. They are estimates, not routed navigation. Tap Navigate to hand off to Apple Maps.
- Pings ("Arrived", "Gas Stop", "Need Help" …) go to your group only. They never contact emergency services.
CarPlay
With CarPlay connected you get a group list, a ping grid and the trip destination. CarPlay shows no map. Start or join the trip on your iPhone before you drive. The phone must stay connected and Caravan allowed to use your location.
Troubleshooting
- "We couldn't find that trip" — the code is wrong or the trip has ended. Ask the host for a new link.
- Other cars don't move — they need Caravan open or running in the background, with location set to "While Using the App", and a data connection.
- Location is off — open Settings → Caravan → Location and choose "While Using the App".
